Partnerships in China
TOChina has among its duties that of forging pragmatic partnerships with prestigious universities and research centres in East Asia.
The Faculty currently has 3 partner institutions in China:
- TheSchool of Media and Cross-Cultural Communication at Zhejiang University, in Hangzhou (http://www.zju.edu.cn). Zhejiang University is a comprehensive national university. Founded in 1897, it was initially known as “Qiushi Shuyuan” (Qiushi Academy), one of the ealiest modern academies of higher learning established in China. TOChina has coordinated three official missions to and from China, leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Faculties. Deans Franco Garelli and Xu Dai have pledged the activation of a number of schemes which may be consulted in the Study and Work in China section of this website.
- China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing (http://www.cfau.edu.cn). Founded in 1955 at the suggestion of Premier Zhou Enlai, CFAU is the only institution of higher learning which operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. It aims at preparing high calibre personnel in the fields of foreign service, international studies, and international business and law. TOChina is leading talks towards agreements that may entail the exchange of students and visiting scholars.
- The China Centre for Comparative Politics and Economics in Beijing. The CCCPE is directed by prof. Yu Keping, one of China’s most prominent intellectuals, and is one of the leading institutes for the study of China’s governance and institutional innovations. TOChina has coordinated a joint seminar session in Beijing and organized a visit by prof. Yu to Torino and his lectures at the 2008 edition of the TOChina Summer School. Further avenues of cooperation are being explored.
